American Airways is about to renew nonstop flights to Venezuela after the U.S. Division of Transportation (DOT) accredited the provider’s request Wednesday, making it the primary U.S. airline to revive service between the 2 nations since 2019.
The airline instructed FOX Enterprise the flights can be operated by Envoy, an entirely owned subsidiary of American Airways, with nonstop service from Miami to Caracas and Maracaibo, Venezuela.
The approval follows President Donald Trump’s January directive to reopen business airspace over Venezuela after the Federal Aviation Administration issued an emergency order barring U.S. civil flight operations within the nation’s airspace. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy later rescinded the order on the president’s course.
Trump requested the DOT to carry the restrictions following a dialogue with Venezuela’s appearing president, Delcy Rodríguez.
