Los Angeles County voted in favor of an evaluation into the proposed merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery and its affect on the leisure trade.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors permitted the movement Tuesday to have the Division of Financial Alternative (DEO) conduct a “complete financial affect evaluation” on the direct and oblique affect the merger might have on employment within the county.
“Leisure is greater than what we watch on a display screen—it’s a part of who we’re as Angelenos and a cornerstone of our financial system. Hundreds of households depend on this trade for his or her livelihoods, and we should shield their jobs and our signature trade,” Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath stated in a press release.

She continued, “Because the proposed merger strikes ahead, we’d like a transparent understanding of its impacts on jobs, competitors, and the way forward for storytelling. At present, we took motion to help employees, strengthen our native financial system, and preserve Los Angeles on the heart of the worldwide leisure trade.”
Based on Horvath, who proposed the movement, the DEO will “develop workforce methods, together with job coaching and placement applications, to help and retain leisure trade employees” and report again to the Los Angeles board in 60 days with a last report due in 120 days.
Los Angeles County Counsel will then submit a last report back to the Division of Justice concerning potential antitrust points.

Actress Jane Fonda, who heads the Committee for the First Modification, supported the movement for “preventing” for the leisure trade.
“Los Angeles runs on the creativity and arduous work of the folks behind our leisure trade. As this acquisition strikes ahead, we’d like to ensure employees and storytellers aren’t left behind. I’m grateful to Supervisor Lindsey Horvath for preventing for our trade and for the individuals who energy it day by day,” Fonda stated.
