China introduced tariffs of as much as 42.7% on dairy merchandise from the European Union Monday, following the outcomes of an anti-subsidy investigation that started in August 2024.
In a press release by the nation’s Ministry of Commerce, China stated that EU subsidies for dairy merchandise had precipitated “substantial harm” to China’s home dairy industries.
The tariffs are set to take impact on April 23, the ministry stated, and the charges can be decided by the quantity of “advert valorem subsidy charges” from the Customs Tariff Fee.
Tariffs vary from 21.9% to 42.7%, with firms “who cooperated with the investigation” seeing tariffs of 28.6%, and those who “didn’t cooperate” topic to the highest fee of 42.7%, in keeping with a press release from a Commerce Ministry official.
